Riaz is your Modern Adventure host, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable trip for everyone. Riaz will be your go-to for any and all questions around our daily flow, meeting points, times, what to expect and any questions or concerns that may arise.

Growing up in the Yucatan Peninsula in a Mexican-American household, Riaz got the travel bug at an early age from family road trips and watching his father, who was also a travel guide. Riaz led bike, kayak, and archeology trips while studying agriculture and biology in university and, after graduating, continued to lead multi-sport trips in the United States, Europe, and Central America. He also went on to pursue an archeological guide certification, a masters level course specializing in Epigraphy and ancient American history, and is currently studying Agaves and Mezcals to become a mezcalier. Joining Modern Adventure in 2019, Riaz has led trips in Oaxaca, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina, Peru, and beyond.

Our local guides in Piedmont are experts in all things related to our destination. They are deeply knowledgeable with respect to local culture and customs, art and history, and are passionate about sharing that with all of us. They are our interpreter, local host and introduce us to the local way of life.

As a fourth-generation family-owned and operated winery, Scribe believes in a healthy relationship between people and nature. Just like each of their wines represent a specific time and place on the vineyard, so do the connections made on every new experience around the world. On this trip we'll be joined by Scribe Winery’s Kelly Mariani, who runs Scribe’s culinary program. Kelly will be with us to share her passion for food and wine, and to revel in the flavors of Piedmont with us.

We will meet and spend time with local artisans, chefs, winemakers, truffle hunters, cheesemakers and many more. All of our local experts are excited to help us learn more, experience more, and have the best possible experience together.
